Bareilly: A month-long Special Communicable Disease Control Campaign and Dastak Campaign was launched in Bareilly on Wednesday with a large public awareness rally flagged off by Raghvendra Sharma, MLA from Bithri Chainpur, at the Community Health Centre in Bhamora and Bithri Chainpur.
The rally marked the beginning of a coordinated district-wide initiative aimed at preventing seasonal communicable diseases and strengthening public awareness regarding health and hygiene practices. A large number of health workers, government officials, and community representatives participated in the event.
Among those present were the Chief Medical Officer, Block Pramukh, Block Development Officer, District Immunization Officer, Medical Officer-in-Charge of the Community Health Centre, District Malaria Officer, malaria inspectors, and representatives of the World Health Organization.
Officials informed that the Special Communicable Disease Control Campaign will run from July 1 to July 31, 2026, while the Dastak Campaign will be conducted from July 11 to July 31, 2026. During the campaign period, the Urban Development and Panchayati Raj departments will undertake anti-larval spraying, fogging operations, drain cleaning, and removal of overgrown vegetation in urban and rural areas to curb the spread of vector-borne diseases.
The Health Department and the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) network will carry out door-to-door outreach activities under the Dastak Campaign, educating families about the prevention, early identification, and treatment of communicable diseases.

Officials stated that several departments, including Education, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Food Safety, will work together to spread awareness among the public and encourage community participation in disease prevention measures. The campaign will focus on promoting cleanliness, eliminating mosquito breeding sites, and ensuring timely reporting of symptoms associated with communicable diseases such as dengue, malaria, and other seasonal infections.
The district administration expressed confidence that the coordinated efforts of multiple departments and active public participation would help strengthen disease surveillance and reduce the risk of outbreaks during the monsoon season.
